YAVAPAI COLLEGE PEACE POLE

You are invited to participate!
Submission Deadline: November 1, 2021

You are invited to submit a concept design for a Peace Pole on the Yavapai College campus. This is an exciting opportunity for the art community in Yavapai County to engage in a work of public art and enhance the peacefulness of the Yavapai College campus with support and funding from the Rotary Club District 5495.

A Peace Pole is a statue dedicated to peace, often an obelisk with four sides, with a message of peace written in different languages on the sides. There are peace poles on campuses throughout the world. This is a chance for Yavapai College to add its name to that list and for you to contribute to our community here in Yavapai County, in Arizona, and in the world, as this is a global project.

Please submit a concept design for the Yavapai College Peace Pole. The accepted concept will be eligible for an honorarium, and the accepted artist will work with a team to focus on the process of public art to develop and realize the Peace Pole design. The initial phase will include instructor led peer level discussion and concept evaluation.

Upon approval by the YC Review Committee, an intermediary phase will involve the fabrication of the Peace Pole. The final phase culminates in the installation and dedication of the Peace pole.
