Spring Juried Student Exhibition Awards 2020

About Cathy Cowen & the Cowen Award

I am honored to award the Annual Cowen Prize to an emerging artist at Yavapai College. As artists, we  know how art influences our lives everyday, and I believe that the challenging times we are living through will, on the positive side,  inspire an  explosion of incredible works of  art around the globe.

Although we will be viewing this year's works of art on-line instead of in-person, the art being produced at Yavapai College continues to be remarkable.  Of special note this year are the works submitted from wood workers, and kudos go out to Keith Mion, their instructor.   It is a formidable task to choose one piece of art.

This year's recipient of the Cowen Prize of $500 is:  Kristin Lohay for "Welcome In".

Cowen Award $500.
